Kamala Harris bags nomination for Attorney General

Kamala Harris (Kamala Devi Harris), the District Attorney of San Francisco, has bagged the Democratic nomination in the race for Attorney General. Outrunning her main rival (Chris Kelly, the Facebook executive) and five others, Kamala triumphed with oomph.

After the winning, the elegant Harris uttered to the media, “We can be tough and smart simultaneously.” Further she expressed that presently a number of Texas oil companies were trying to put their fingers in California and taking on AB32 but she would not let it happen sans a fight.

Born on October 20th 1964 in Oakland, California, Kamala Devi, the district attorney of San Farnasico, got elected first in 2003 by beating out the district attorney Terence Hallinan. Got re-elected in 2007, Harris’s educational journey revolves around the historically African American College, Howard University in Washington D.C. and Juris Doctor (J.D) from University of California,
Hastings College of the Law. Kamala Harris is the daughter of a Tamil Indian mother Dr. Shyamala Gopalan who immigrated to the U.S from Chennai, India in 1960 and a Jamaican father, Donald Harris.

She is a book author as well since she has scribbled down a book titled ‘Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer’. Her book was launched in 2009 and was applauded by the readers and the critics alike. In political and judiciary’s circles, the book was regarded high.
