Shani Shingnapur

Shani Shingnapur is an Indian village of the state of Maharashtra located in Nevasa talika in Ahmednagar district. The village is famous and well-known for the presence of popular temple “Shani”. The word Shani signifies the theme that Shani is considered being the Hindu god. This is because, according to Hindu astrology, Lord Shani was the son of Lord Surya and Surya is the Hindu translational word of the planet sun. Lord Shani is also called Shani Shinganapur.

The word Shingnapur is also famous about those houses that are situated in the village which are without doors but with only door frames. Despite all the houses are without doors there is not even a single incident of theft and robbery taken place yet. The villagers have the belief in their Lord Shani that there valuable and precious items were always be protected by Lord Shani and that there god is very powerful and strong. They also believe that Lord Shani will punish those who are involved in stealing and robbing the precious things.

Recently, the Hindus celebrated the Shani Shingnapur festival in order to please their Lord Shani. In that festival the planet Saturn which indicates Lord Shani is worshipped with great devotion by Hindu people from all over the world. Every year on that day, the divinity of the black stone is overwhelmed. This event and the deity of the black stone are performed not only in the temples but on a simple clean platform as well. Every year several religious-folk songs are being sung on that special day.
