Spirit Airlines Strike 2010

After another session of negotiation, the pilots and Spirit Airlines’ officials agreed to another session of negotiations. The company officials say it is a good progress for both parties. Earlier, the pilots had threatened to go on a full strike early Saturday if company did not make a deal with them but recent reports said that they were agreed to keep continue talking to the company officials. The National Mediation Board is also making efforts settling deal between both parties. The extension was confirmed from both sides, by company’s spokesman and union’s sources. The union agreed to extend their deadline after they were told that company was planning to give them additional proposals.

Earlier, the company said that they would hire pilots from other airlines and continue flight according to their schedule. But there were two passengers who had reached airport with hope to reach their destination through Spirit Airline but both of them had to face an awkward situation when company staff clearly told them that there was no flight as they had not any pilot for that. 44-year-old Cousins Greg Watson said that he had not witnessed such a disorganized thing in his entire life and now he would never fly Spirit again in his life. The passengers are angry over an airline which has not any pack up system for its flights. The passengers were handed over $75 so that they might get another flight from Miami airport.

Spirit pilots want company to increase their pays and make it equal to other airlines like JetBlue Airways Corp. and AirTran Airways.
