According to reports the Spirit pilots have threatened to walk out of the negotiations at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning and both negotiators and pilots’ union leaders have shown their interest in striking a deal before the prescribed time.
According to reports, Spirit Airlines have contacted its customers to help them in rescheduling their travel plans as Spirit flights from Fort Lauderdale, the hub of Spirit Airlines have been cancelled.
In the wake of Spirit Airlines Strike, the leaders of the pilots’ union have claimed that they are looking for pay parity and many of the pilots in the union have promised not to cross the picket line. National Mediation Board is facilitating the negotiations in Washington.
Spirit Airlines fly around 150 flights daily from eastern U.S to the Caribbean; the airline previously was in the news when it announced that it will charge $ 45 extra for carryon bags from August.
Spirit spokesperson, Misty Pinson has said that Spirit has cancelled some of the flights and it is proactively contacting customers of the affected flights for alternatives.
According to some people if there is a strike; Spirit Airlines is going to be in big trouble as it takes around five hours to rearrange a cancelled flight.
From Spirit Airlines it is suggested that passengers should call the reservation office if they are flying on some weekend flight.
Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has said that pilots at Spirit Airlines are asking for pay similar to other airline pilots like jet blue and Air Trans Airways.
