Us England, Goalie’s Gaffe

The much talked about US-England match ended in a draw on Saturday in the third of Day 2 and first of Group C match between two arch soccer rivals.

Fans in the refurbished Royal Bafokeng Stadium were taken aback by England Captain Steven Gerrard who put England ahead by flicking the ball past England goalkeeper Tim Howard and clock was just ticked 4 minutes in a 90 minutes long game.

While everybody who were present and millions watching the Gerrard-Rooney Tussle were expecting one more flick from Gerrard who literally got some opportunities but was unable to repeat the miracle he did for England in the fourth minute of the match.

No body was expecting what England goalkeeper did and Robert Green’s Goof on Clint Dempsey shot proved a blessing for US that were desperately looking for an equalizer.

The gift of Dempsey proved curse of Green who failed to fetch his body behind Dempsey’s low shot and ball slipped through his hands into the net and match was tied.

Many of England attacks like one of Emile Heskey could have restored the England lead but Tim Howard diverted all the England bullets though it seemed the only man on football arena targeted by England is but Tim Howard.

Though Green made amendments by deflecting Jozy Altidore shot off the post, the damage has been done and FIFA World Cup match between US and England ended in a draw to much of the English chagrin.
