World Cup Opening Ceremony

The month of June will be a treat for Football fans. Yes, it is the time when football lovers all over the world are seen glued to the television sets and the stadium is seen packed with thousands of admirers of the game. Bookings were started six months ago. People saved money throughout the year, to cover their traveling expenses and reach the stadium to support their favorite teams.

This year, the football match will be taking place for the first time in the continent of Africa in the city of Johannesburg. The Africans are really excited at the honor. Thirty eight teams have arrived in Johannesburg with the intention of winning the World Cup 2010. It was decided that the world cup opening ceremony was to be based on two days starting from Thursday eve on the tenth of June ‘10 to Friday, the eleventh day of June ‘10. The world cup opening ceremony started at eight in the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

Hundreds and thousands of African dancers gathered in the ground wearing red, blue and green costumes. Flags of all the countries participating in the world cup were raised and national anthems were played one by one for all the teams. Live performances by top singers and musical bands brought life to the world cup opening ceremony. Following the first part of the ceremony will be the first emotional match between Mexico and South Africa. The Africans are very energized and will be seen supporting South Africa, as they want the national team to win the first ever professional football match which is to be played on the land of Africa.
