While the fishermen made their catch of the life, the teenager also learnt lesson of her life; experience comes with age and at the age of 16 it is better to stay in shallow waters rather embarking on to conquer the cruel world of waters solely.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority AMSA has said that teen sailor is safe and well despite her ordeal.
According to AMSA, the rescue of the 16 year old Us sailor was successfully conducted by the fishing vessel Ile De La Reunion who sent a smaller ship from their heavy trawler to rescue the cold and wet teenager from her yacht Wild Eyes. Master of the Ile De La Reunion has reported that Abby Sunderland is safe and in good spirits while arrangements are underway to fetch her to the land.
In a bid to become the youngest person on earth to circumnavigate the globe solely, Abby Sunderland sailed off from Los Angeles on 23 January this year but she gave up her efforts in April when Wild Eyes broke needing repairs, however, Abby Sunderland continued her voyage.
It was this Thursday when her Wild Eyes met another snag when mast of Wild Eyes broke in the rough sea at the Australian west coast, leaving Abby Sunderland without satellite communications.
Abby Sunderland set off two emergency beacons, and a rescue crew made a brief contact with the young sailor on Friday afternoon.
In the midst of Abby’s ordeal, a widespread criticism has engulfed the whole enterprise and world has blasted mixed remarks not only for Abby Sunderland but her parents, though his father has defend Abby’s position by adding that life and sailing both are dangerous and we can not restrain our teens from driving for the fear of accidents. Abby’s mother has very emotionally suggested that she would not let her daughter go out in the sea once she gets home but with the fear that Abby may make her mind in future to go out in the sea.
