He got the early education from St. Stephen’s School and the University of Colorado at Boulder where Chris studied the techniques of acting for the first time by graduating with a degree in history in 1983. After pocketing the education from these institutions, Maloney then turned the face to New York where he got himself registered with Sanford Meisner at Neighborhood Playhouse.
Prior to plunging into the field of acting, Chris Maloney had worked as a construction worker at some organization. Apart from this job, the talented actor had also done the jobs of bouncer, bartender and personal trainer. Starting his career with commercials then short-lived TV series and small parts in some movies, the first noticeable role he got in a thriller ‘Bound’ released in 1996. Chris got much noticed when he acted as Julia Robert’s fiancé in Runway Bride.
From 1998 to 2003, Chris Maloney has sunk himself in the roles of bisexual, serial killer and Chris Keller on HBO series ‘OZ’. These roles fetched huge media attention for the actor in particular he got much famous among the gay community since they started to consider him a sex symbol. In 1999, Chris even jokingly lip-locked his onscreen partner Lee Tergesen (who played Tobias Beecher on ‘OZ’) at an awards’ dinner for GLAAD.
