This is second recall due to the same problem in 2 years. GM motors have so far received 5 complaints regarding this issue of heating up of windshield wiper fluid system but there were fortunately no injuries. Although the problem has not occurred in a large number of vehicles but the company is very much conscious about the safety of its customers. Keeping it in view, company has decided to completely abolish the heated washing fluid system once it gets back the recalled vehicles.
To compensate for that, the car owners as well as those who have leased the cars would receive $100 from the company because they wouldn’t be provided with any other alternative for this system. The recall letters are expected to be delivered to customers at the month end.
The feature of heated windshield fluid system was developed by Microheat Inc., but since they are no more manufacturing such units, it’s becoming difficult for GM motors to rectify the problem. The feature was developed to facilitate in removing ice from windshields.
