Abby Sunderland set on her sailing journey on the twenty third day of Jan ‘10 alone without informing her father. Her father owns a boat construction business. She took one of the boats built by her father called Wild Eyes and filled it with the sailing kit and sacks full of food and few medicines, and started off with her journey. Her seventeen years old brother Zac Sunderland later informed the family about her mission.
Wild Eyes took Abby Sunderland into seas, rivers and oceans and was working just fine. She stayed in touch with her family through her satellite phone and kept them informed about her position every few hours. Today,
while she was crossing the Indian Ocean in Australia, her boat Wild Eyes started shaking due to heavy waves. She hurriedly raised the beacons as a call for help. During this, the family was calling her but the call wasn’t going through. Her father and brother got very upset and asked the Australian and Californian authorities for assistance. An airbus carrying the rescue team and three boats have been searching for the young sailor in the Indian Ocean since then. After many hours, the news came up that Abby’s life has been finally saved by the rescue team members from Perth. Her boat has almost sunken into water. Abby will soon be returning back home.
