Spirit Airlines

On Saturday Spirit Airlines pilots went on strike and as a result company had to cancel all flight for the day. This flight cancellation is expected to affect thousands of travelers. Spirit worked until 5:00 a.m. and after that pilot called for a strike. According to reports pilots took the step when a mediated contract talks failed to reach an agreement.

Company also advised customers for the alternative flight options. On the other hand many pilots want to withdraw their services if they don’t get the contract they deserved.

This airline is based in Miramar, Fla and runs 150 flights per day. Spirit Airlines has confirmed the news and also updated the same on their website that,

“Spirit Airlines is continuing to work with our pilot union to reach a fair and equitable agreement that ensures the long-term stability of the company.”

The strike call was unexpected for the company and according to statement released by Spirit Airlines President and CEO Ben Baldanza,

“Our pilots have turned down an over 30 percent increase at a cost of over $70 million over five years while disrupting thousands of our customers and jeopardizing the livelihoods of our over 2,000 employees.”

Though company has not made any announcement for the next flight schedule but on the Spirit’s website when you attempt to book a seat for 12 or 13 June, it’s saying no seat is available for the dates so should select another travel date. It’s a United States low-cost carrier operating company and the Airlines scheduled flights throughout the America.
