Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona, the Argentina’s coach, seemed satisfied with his players, and especially with the performance of Lionel Messi. Although the victory against Nigeria was narrow but Diego Maradona looked pleased for his first World Cup match on the bench. He suggested that he had the gracious support of all his fans. In addition he added that a match of football resembles a formula 1 race as it requires quick decisions.

While facing the Super Eagles, the team secured a lot of chances to satisfy the Argentine coach. Maradona stated that his team played well and it produced many interesting attacks. Though Argentina won but the team could have easily scored three or four goals. He continued by saying that the victory was no doubt “a milestone” but team still needed a lot of hard work.

After the victory Maradona got surrounded by reporters. Diego Maradona also commented on Lionel Messi. He stated that he was very pleased with the way Messi played. Furthermore he added that football is such a game that would not look so nice if it did not achieve great things with the ball. The first half ended in pain for Argentina. The equalizer did not look far after the “coming into play” by Peter Odemwingie. Maradona said that he wanted to applaud the Nigerian goalkeeper who produced several fine saves. In addition he stated that his team finished the game with great pain and there were a lot of chances that suggested the match to end in a draw.
